ESG at Alba
Alba's ESG Roadmap
Our ESG roadmap guides a purpose-driven culture and supports our mission of long-term value creation. It is also critical to how we manage risk and maintain business continuity.
Six Priority Areas
Decarbonisation
Reducing GHG emissions from existing and future processes within Alba's operations, in support of Bahrain's commitment to Net-zero by 2060
Green Energy & Aluminium
Leveraging renewable energy and renewable energy market mechanisms to reduce GHG impacts
Circular Economy & Secondary Aluminium
Integrating post-consumer and/or post-industrial primary and secondary materials into existing processes
Employee Welfare
Ensuring Alba employees feel valued and safe in their working environment and are supported by their employer
Collaboration & Partnership
Establishing strategic partnerships and mutually beneficial relationships to advance Alba’s ESG Roadmap
Transparency, Communications & Due Diligence
Developing a governance structure and actions to ensure consistent, competitive and ambitious ESG communications with key stakeholders
Materiality
In our 2023 report, a comprehensive materiality assessment was conducted to identify and prioritise issues of concern, interest, and impact for both internal and external stakeholders. Leveraging external expertise, the process adhered to the latest GRI Universal Standards 2021 and embraced double materiality principles, encompassing both financial and non-financial considerations.
Recognizing the importance of transparency, accountability, and effective decision-making, we at Alba believe understanding materiality across environmental, social, and governance (ESG) activities is paramount. This approach ensures we focus on the issues that truly matter to our organisation and stakeholders.
The future of business is sustainable, and at Alba, we want to be at the forefront of this movement. By implementing sustainable sourcing practices today, we can inspire positive change within our industry and leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.
