Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), the world’s largest aluminium smelter ex-China, closed 2019 by achieving an all-time record in its metal sales as volume reached 1,350,326 metric tonnes (mt), up by 33% Year-over-Year (YoY), while production topped 1,365,005 mt, up by 35% YoY.
For the fourth quarter of 2019, metal sales’ volume reached 405,259 mt, up by 54% YoY, versus 262,346 mt in Q4 2018, production figures reached 401,175 mt, up by 62% YoY versus 248,149 mt in the same period of 2018.
Commenting on Alba sales’ volume and production for 2019, Alba’s Acting Chief Executive, Ali Al Baqali said:
“We are pleased to have closed 2019 strong – our operational performance have gone above and beyond our set-targets for the year with Line 6 in full commercial operation. And, this achievement has been made more significant with our remarkable Safety performance of Zero Lost Time Injuries (LTIs) in 2019.”
