12 July 2010

  • Alba honours officers and service personnel of the Kingdom of Bahrain's Coastguard Directorate.
  • More than 35 volunteers went in two separate groups to the two units of Bahrain's Coastguard Directorate in Sitra and Muharraq.
  • This initiative was part of Alba's corporate social responsibility.

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) expressed its deep appreciation and gratitude to the tireless work done by Bahrain's Coastguard Directorate in safeguarding the kingdom's coastline, protecting it from any potential hazards, and in ensuring there is all-round safety and security for boats, ships and tankers within Bahrain's territorial waters.

More than 35 volunteers from Alba's Community Service Committee visited the two units of Bahrain's Coastguard Directorate based in Sitra and Muharraq respectively. Led by Alba's Chief Operating Officer and Chairman of the Alba Community Service Committee, Mohammed Mahmood, the volunteers who were divided in two separate groups honoured officers and other service personnel with gifts and certificates of appreciation and certificates commenting on Alba's initiative to honour the guardians of Bahrain's coastline, Alba's Chief Executive Laurent Schmitt said:

"As an island kingdom surrounded by sea from all sides, the Coastguard Directorate plays a valuable role in protecting and safeguarding Bahrain's geographical frontiers. Alba truly appreciates their tireless service and commitment to promote safety and security for citizens and residents alike. Like everyone in Bahrain, we are indebted to the work they do for protecting the marine environment from all hazards, and this event was just a simple gesture to express both our appreciation and gratitude to all the officers and service personnel who are part of the Coastguard Directorate."

The Alba Community Service Committee plays a key role in encouraging the spirit of philanthropy amongst Alba employees while enhancing kingdom wide appreciation of Alba's corporate social responsibility initiatives. It has nearly 200 volunteers involved in various activities such as, beach cleaning, road safety awareness, first aid and blood donation campaigns, beach cleaning, etc.
