Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) remains firmly committed towards strengthening safety climate practices, and in implementing recommendations that would greatly reduce or even eliminate accidents at the plant according to a safety survey that formed a key component of a research paper by one of Alba's employees.

Safety Superintendent, Mahmood A. Aziz's research on "Safety Climate - Exploring Perceptions of Safety Management in an Aluminium Organisation of Bahrain" was part of his requirement in securing an MSc in Occupational & Environmental Health and Safety Management from the School of Environmental Design and Management (Distance Learning), University of Portsmouth.

Congratulating Mr Aziz on his Masters Degree and commending him on his research project, Alba Chief Executive, Laurent Schmitt said:

"We encourage our employees to pursue higher studies and develop specialisations in their area of work. We believe this will help in creating a knowledgeable workforce that can greatly contribute to the success of the company and in ensuring that Alba continues remain one of the leading aluminium smelters in the world. I like to congratulate Mahmood Aziz on his achievement, and praise the hard work and dedication that has gone into his research."

Mahmood Aziz undertook a safety survey that involved non-management staff to learn about their perceptions on safety at the work place. The results indicated a highly positive employee perception towards safety management, and that throughout the company there exists an upbeat safety climate.
